Adam David, a long-time zinester, bookmaker, and freelance writer from Cubao, is the winner of the UP Institute of Creative Writing’s 9th Madrigal Gonzalez Best First Book Award for The El Bimbo Variations (the Youth & Beauty Brigade, 2008). His other books include Crows & Rages (2010) and Item Mite Emit Time (2010). David served as co-editor of High Chair 12, a three-part issue of the journal devoted to the Maguindanao Massacre of 2009, and the Kritika Kultura Anthology of New Philippine Writing in English (Ateneo de Manila University, 2011). A cofounder of independent komix publishing initiative Haliya Publishing, he is the organizer of Better Living Through Xeroxography, a semi-annual shop-and-talk-shop event on independent publishing. David illustrated Sigwa: Climate Fiction Anthology from the Philippines, which is forthcoming from the Polytechnic University of the Philippines Press.
