The Fruit Matrix

I had a dream I was the red boy in the red chair
in the middle of the ice pond and older me
was a giant hacking away at the blocks
with a purple plastic hammer.

In the next chapter, where bricks met
carpet, I machine-gunned my demons
but due to a glitch they kept coming back bigger,
dressed in golden capes and diamond armets.

So I took over, lucidly, and timed
all the stoplights through town.
I waited out rush hour perfectly
just to save her, just in time to come home
and find our bedroom turned to a grove.
