<image:title>Archive - An Explosion of A Pinch of Snuff - Make it stand out</image:title>
<image:caption>Inside us all where the bad comes from, inside the other side of good, a plan forms to break the rabbi1. Inside the rabbi are many desires and many mitzvos. A mitzvah is a good thing but it is also a bad thing. It contains. Containing is good and it is bad. The rabbi takes a little snuff. The snuff comes from America2 and it is enervating and mostly bad. What makes it bad? Mostly the picking. Mostly the cancer. Mostly the slavery. The rabbi feels innervated. The first plan to break the rabbi is money. Money is everywhere3 and it is mostly bad, because it isn’t in the places it should be. Money contains food, contains housing, contains safety and danger. The rabbi does not want money and what it contains and the plan fails. The snuff is inside a little box. The little box is inside a story by the important man. The important man is inside a city, Warsaw, which is not where the Rabbi is4. Rabbi, snuff box, important man, story, city, are inside a language. The language is inside me, but not by much, just a little5. A bisl. A pinch. The rabbi is trying to relax. A plan forms to make him relax too much. Inside Shabbos, there is no work, but inside Shabbos there is also no relaxing6. You have to relax outside of Shabbos, before Shabbos. Inside a mitzvah is good and bad, inside a mitzvah is the potential for breaking that mitzvah. The mitzvos inside Shabbos are mountains that hang by strings. Cut the string, and the mountain falls. Inside the mountain is the people Israel, suffocating. Inside the people Israel is the important man and the city and the rabbi. Inside the rabbi is the snuff. Inside the snuff is a desire for more snuff. Inside that desire is the breaking of the rabbi. A wind comes. It blows away the little box with the snuff. The rabbi chases after it. He chases it so far, he is outside the boundary. Inside the boundary is Shabbos, and outside Shabbos is broken7, the string is cut, the mountain falls, the people suffocate. The snuff has exploded, and its evil is everywhere. The rabbi wants more snuff, more cancer, more slavery. The important man is inside a city that will not stay safe for the people Israel who are inside the mountain, suffocating8. The city is in a language that is not inside me. The rabbi is outside of Shabbos, chasing the snuff. The plan worked! The rabbi and Shabbos are broken, together. What will come out of them?</image:caption>

<image:caption>1 Where is this rabbi? Rabbis seem to always come with localities, they are fixed in place. A place with a rabbi has a soul of sorts, it is a real place, even if we are telling a story about it. But the rabbi, who is a stranger to that place, who has come from a Yeshiva far away, is not the soul of that place. 2 This place, we are told, has very little soul, it has very few rabbis. 3 Especially America 4 There are many rabbis in Warsaw, there is a great soul in Warsaw. The Important Man, while not a rabbi, is a great soul of Warsaw. He shares this soul and makes of his own soul something of the soul of the people Israel, he is interpreted as the truth of the people Israel. Many would disagree with this. Many would scoff at this. But it is how things have developed. 5 I keep stopping and starting to learn Yiddish. The stopping comes first because it is the most natural thing for a Jew to learn Yiddish, but I keep being stopped, and then I have to start. My grandmother sent me a letter in which was the Gettysburg Address in transliterated Yiddish. This was many years ago. I no longer have the Gettysburg Address in Yiddish. I no longer have my grandmother. I speak more Yiddish now than I did when she sent the letter and was alive. 6 In America, Shabbos has changed. In America, we say, Shabbos is about work. In America we work all the time. So on Shabbos, we don’t stop working. That is, we light fires and tie knots and spend money. But we don’t work, we don’t get paid for our labor. That is it. That is all. We have the weekends off being paid. But we still work. 7 In America, you can only break Shabbos if you do what you are paid for and are paid for it. 8 This all happened so long ago that my grandmother was alive for it. The important man was not alive for it but my grandmother was alive for it, but she was powerless to stop the City from becoming dangerous for the people Israel. She was powerless to stop the people Israel from forming the state of Israel. My grandmother was so powerless, she could not even speak her language, which she later sent me a sample of in the Gettysburg Address. Then she died.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Archive - [REDACTED] Pub</image:title>
<image:caption>Poem reads: [REDACTED][1] Pub for Hasan [REDACTED][2] 엄마, 아빠 [3] I’ll tell you what happened when I’d asked if I could go backpacking with my [REDACTED][4] (Please know I pull back only when I talk about [REDACTED][5]) For the first time, you did not trust me, or rather, you did not trust my covered version of [REDACTED.[6] That was either your parental instinct or parental paranoia. Something— most likely someone—told you. Who was it? Was it God?[7] Who is responsible for chaining us? Every جمعة[8], we’d sought the sick fish of Jonah hidden behind shrubs. Red was not velvet[9] in the belly. Jonah is not my type[10] but he prayed on my behalf: “Now, Lord, take away my life, for it is better for me to die than to live.” But the Lord replied, “Is it right for you to be angry?”[11] I simply wish the belly[12] were God’s womb. [1] Place name redacted for the safety of its patrons. Insert: Friendly [2] Name redacted for his safety. Insert: Iscariot (Even under the dark ink, his name is not what it is.) [3] Korean word for “Dad”—it sounds similar to the phrase “아파” meaning “It hurts.” [4] Redacted. Insert: friend [5] Redacted due to my cyclical cynicism. It is one of the words not brought up in front of family—“marriage,” “girlfriend,” “wife,” etc. [6] Pronoun redacted. Insert them. [7] I, a confused Christian, do not know how to answer this question. [8] Arabic word for “Friday.” Its root ( ج-م-ع) means “gathering.” Instead of a mosque, we gathered in the pub. [9] Why do I always surround our imagined selves in velvet? [10] As in, typology. [11] Jonah 4:3-4 [12] In it, we (there is no dual form for first person pronoun in Arabic) wrote our vows on the back of disposable coasters. I put mine in the safe—did you keep yours?</image:caption>
